Light in the Darkness: A Photography Project
Hello out there,
Sometimes, the most meaningful ideas come to us by accident, and that’s exactly what happened with what I think might become my first ever photography project. While I’m sure it’s not the most original concept, and I know I’m not the first to explore it, it’s deeply personal to me and feels worth pursuing.
As I’ve been editing and reviewing my recent photos, I noticed a recurring theme: darkness punctuated by bright spots in nature. This theme wasn’t intentional at first, but as I reflected on it, I realized how much it resonates with my own personal journey.
For years, I’ve battled Major Depression, a struggle that has often felt like being lost in the dark. Moving to the mountains in Flagstaff, Arizona, was a significant step in my healing process. Here, surrounded by the beauty of nature, I’ve found moments of light that break through the darkness—both in my surroundings and within myself.
This theme of light emerging from darkness has become a reflection of my journey, and I feel a strong pull to explore it further through my photography. It’s a way for me to visually express the hope and healing I’ve found in these mountains, even on the toughest days.
While I know this idea isn’t new, it’s meaningful to me, and I’m excited to see where it leads. I’ll be sharing more of these photos as I continue to explore this project, and I hope they resonate with you as much as they do with me.
Below are some shots I’ve taken over the last week, three of which I’ll be adding to this new project.
Thank you for following along. Your support means the world to me.
