Starting Out

Hello, and welcome to my silly photography blog. I don’t want some massive social media company to own the pictures I take, so I’m going to be using this platform as a showcase for my work as I grow and learn.

I've been captivated by the magic of capturing moments on camera ever since I was little. My brother and I used to make movies with a video camera connected to a VCR, plugged in with an extension cord. Those early experiences ignited a passion for visual storytelling that has stayed with me throughout my life — though I haven’t always known what to do with that creative energy.

During summer camp, I loved taking pictures with disposable film cameras, eagerly waiting for the prints to come back and usually very disappointed with the results. As technology evolved, we all got phones with cameras, making it easier than ever to capture the world around us and to be sure in the moment that the pictures we took weren’t absolute garbage (or we just take a hundred selfies and sort it out later).

In recent years, I've been enjoying what I've been able to capture with my phone and some basic editing skills. It's amazing what you can create with the same camera that everyone else has.

In this post, I'll be sharing some of my favorite shots taken with my phone, highlighting how even “simple” tools can create beautiful images. As I transition to using my new camera, I hope to bring even more unique and special perspectives to my work.

Thank you for joining me on this adventure. I can't wait to share my discoveries and growth with you!
